And we have to trust that the fire that appears so terrifying is the very thing that can save us from a life of meaninglessness, which is worse than death. The fire is the means through which we discover our voice, and when we discover our voice, so do others—not because we give it to them, but because they feel it burning inside them and are compelled to raise it up in howl.
